What is microneedling?

How does microneedling work?

Before your treatment, your provider applies a topical anesthetic. These micro punctures trigger your body’s healing response, during which your body's collagen and elastin production increases. The microneedling procedure takes about 30 minutes, depending on the treatment areas you're targeting.

After the procedure, the treated area will be slightly red, like a mild sunburn, for a few days. But luckily, microneedling doesn't require any downtime, so you can return to most of your usual activities. You should follow your provider's aftercare guidelines, which usually involve staying out of the sun and avoiding skin care products with active ingredients like retinol until you heal.

When will I see results from microneedling?

It takes time for new collagen to grow, so you’ll gradually see results over the next few months. You may need more than one treatment spaced about four to six weeks apart, depending on the type of problem that your provider is treating and your desired results.
