What is miraDry?

MiraDry is a device that uses thermal energy to eliminate odor-causing sweat glands. The non-invasive treatment sends waves of heat directly into your underarm sweat glands to prevent them from producing moisture. This effectively erases underarm sweat and odor.

Once your sweat glands are gone, you should notice an 82% reduction in sweat and 89% in odor reduction.

How does miraDry work?

The miraDry treatment is a straightforward procedure. The handheld device suctions the skin in your underarms to bring the sweat glands closer to the surface. Next, it releases thermal energy directly into the sweat glands, destroying them at the source. The thermal waves do not disturb the surrounding tissue, only the sweat glands.

Sweat glands cannot grow back or repair themselves once eliminated, so they can’t continue producing sweat. Once you’ve completed treatment, your underarm sweat should not return.

Are there any disadvantages to miraDry?

It’s understandable to feel concerned about eliminating your sweat glands permanently. While it’s true that your body does need sweat to cool itself, humans have about 2-4 million sweat glands total. In fact, the underarms only make up around 2% of your body’s sweat glands.
